About Spire Labs

Here at Spire Laboratories, we specialise in the testing, validation and certification of specific customer requirements associated with various aspects of the plating industry. Based in Chesterfield in the UK, Spire Labs was set up in order to fill the gap in response in lead time processes, certification and verification.

Our Services

Salt Spray Testing

Spire Labs offer a comprehensive salt spray testing service to customers throughout the UK and worldwide. The standard salt spray test method is used to check the corrosion resistance of coated samples, substrates, and components.

Kesternich Testing

Resistance to corrosion is measured in Kesternich cycling, and this method of accelerated corrosion testing is an approved method that is used to perform corrosion tests on metallic components.

Hardness Testing

Used to measure the hardness of metals, the Vickers hardness test uses apparatus consisting of a diamond tipped indenter which is used to imprint a geometrically uniform shape into the surface of a metal sample by applying pressure.

Phosphorus Content Testing

The phosphorus content is a key component in the determination of the properties of an electroless nickel coating. There are varying levels of phosphorus content, and each provides unique properties.

Micro Section Testing

A coating or plating application is commonly used for the protection of the substrate, therefore the thickness of the deposited layer is an important factor with regard to the overall performance of the coating or plating.
